Lieutenant Colonel Shane Nichols
Lieutenant Colonel Shane Nichols serves as the Special Projects Officer (J-34) for the West Virginia National Guard. As J-34, he assists the Chief of the Joint Staff in providing oversight and support to The Adjutant General’s special programs.
Prior to his current assignment, Lieutenant Colonel Nichols served as Commander, 771st Troop Command Battalion, and Commander, West Virginia Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP).
Lieutenant Colonel Nichols is a graduate of Marshall University and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College Advanced Operations Course. He served on active duty in the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment prior to joining the West Virginia National Guard. He has commanded at the company, battalion and Joint Task Force levels. His combat deployments include Operations DESERT SHIELD, DESERT STORM and ENDURING FREEDOM.
